Visit the Hill Cumorah

From on Top of Hill Cumorah, Looking Eastward
Dimly seen through the tree obstructions on top of Hill Cumorah, is a tiny valley, followed by a small ridge, then a field area past the ridge, and finally a drumlin hill to the east. The features are rarely noticed by the casual tourist to Hill Cumorah. Highlighted in early morning light, through a scant leaf foliage, this is a side of Cumorah that invites a closer look. Water from a marshland glints in the sunlight at the bottom of Hill Cumorah.

Tiny Valley Lies at the Base Of Hill Cumorah, on the East
In this view to the south, Hill Cumorah’s back side, seen here on the right, forms a tiny valley. This tiny valley is thus formed between Hill Cumorah (on the right) and by a small ridge (on the left). A marshland in this valley feeds into headwaters for a streamlet that flow northward from Hill Cumorah.

Tiny Valley, A Seen From The Small Ridge On Its East
On the left in this picture is seen a portion of the backside of Hill Cumorah. Barely visible in the tree-line opening, is the Angel Moroni Monument. Church maintenance buildings are seen on the northern end of the tiny valley. Might this tiny valley have had some strategic value in last battles at Hill Cumorah?

View Of The Small Ridge, Seen From A Plowed Field On Its East Side
The tree tops of Hill Cumorah just peek over the small ridge, as seen in this view from a field, looking westward toward the small ridge, marked by a fence. As noted here, the small ridge itself has also been under cultivation, thus making its existence not easily recognized from on top of Hill Cumorah. This small ridge might be classified as a small drumlin hill.

Looking Southward From On Top Of The Small Ridge
The slope of the plowed field on the east of the small ridge is somewhat visible in this picture. The fence shown acts somewhat as a dividing line. Other tiny drumlin ridges or hills are also visible in this view. Hill Cumorah is the largest of the drumlin hills in the area.
