Visit the Hill Cumorah
6:30am Sunrise Highlights CumorhS Ridge
The April rays of the rising sun highlighted the Angel Moroni Monument on top of Hill Cumorah. Brisk air and fast moving clouds produced a kaleidoscope of cloud formations that changed shapes and color hews rapidly, in the beautiful early morning sky.
Early Sunshine Presents a Rarely Seen View Westward From CumorahS Hill
In this view, Route 21 lies along the edge of the shadow of Hill Cumorah. The first line of trees is a marshy area. Barely visible are seen a few houses located on Smith Road, just beyond the second field area, about one mile in the distance. On the left (south) at Smith Road a small drumlin hill exists, barely visible from here.
Paved Path On The Northend Of Hill Cumorah
The Angel Moroni Monument lies at the end of this path. From this view one can see just how narrow the ridge of Hill Cumorah is on its north end. On either side of the walkway near the statue, the hill drops steeply downward. However, this gives an easy view of both sides of Hill Cumorah. Might this have been an advantage point from which General Mormon could direct last battles?
On Top, Toward The South End Of Hill Cumorah
From this view, one can see that the ridge is quite wide. In Nephite times, might a small village have existed here? At this location, the hill is wide enough to easily accommodate a temple-like structure, along with other buildings as well.
Rear View Of The Angel Moroni Monument
Approaching from the back paved road, one climbs up a steep hill, full of thorny undergrowth that impedes the way. Leaving the road, this rarely seen view of the Angel Moroni Momument is illuminated by early morning sunshine.
