About
Duane R Aston Phd
In 1998 Duane published Return To Cumorah, his study of the geography of The Book of Mormon. He had found that an eastern Great Lakes geographical setting could match Book of Mormon accounts with remarkable correspondences. Thus his conclusions are that all Book of Mormon events had occurred in that setting, and not in Central America as is often supposed.
This website, reflects his thesis that there is only one Hill Cumorah, and no other second Hill Cumorah exists anywhere else, as is sometimes suggested.
Typically scholars of The Book of Mormon have deduced from Book of Mormon accounts that the Nephite Zarahemla must have necessarily been closely located near a Hill Cumorah. Duane accepted that there is only one known Hill Cumorah, and this important clue thus points to Nephite lands being located in the eastern Great Lakes area.
Duane did not know why he once again returned to Cumorah in 2003. However, with camera in hand, by the time he left for home, he knew why. He now would like to share with readers, many ideas that he has worked on for years, as seen in new light from the other side of Cumorah.
